Först, the leading supplier of high performance and robust woodchippers, has seen its relationship with The NPH Group continue to strengthen as the business continues to grow and is set to expand its fleet of Först woodchippers in 2018.

The Suffolk-based company, one of the primary plant hire companies covering East Anglia, operates through its network of depots across Newmarket, Basildon, Harlow, Ipswich, Cambridge and Kings Lynn, and has built a reputation over the past 30 years as one of the leading suppliers of plant equipment to the construction and landscaping industries.

The NPH Group’s relationship with Först began in 2015, which saw the firm first purchase a fleet of ST6 wheeled woodchippers, followed shortly by a TR6 tracked woodchipper, ensuring the diverse needs to NPH Group’s customers were met.

Ashley Tarrant, Operational Director for The NPH Group, explained: “From our experience, not many plant hire firms offer woodchippers, so establishing a working relationship with Först not only allows us to diversify our equipment offering to better suit the needs of our customers, but it also enables us to stand out in a competitive hire industry.

“We work with a number of large and established landscape companies and it’s imperative that we can provide them with machinery that performs to the highest levels and is extremely reliable, and this is why our relationship with Först is such a good fit. They pride themselves on manufacturing robust, powerful and efficient equipment that can meet the demands of the toughest tasks and is backed up by great aftersales and service support, which aligns perfectly with the ethos of our business.

“The Först ST6s are very popular as they are ideal for our customers day-to-day duties as the machines are light, mobile and their output is quality, whilst delivering a strong and consistent performance. For a highly mobile chipper, its productivity is great and our ST6s get through a lot of work, supported by their impressive Kubota engines. The Först TR6 is generally used for larger clearance jobs and is something we recommend to our largest landscapers working on extensive projects as the machine devours anything its fed.

“The high performance and calibre of the machines is underpinned by the maintenance and service support, which allows our customers to simply focus on the job at hand. When working in the hire industry, being able to offer these reassurances to our customers is vital to the success of our business.”

In 2015, Newmarket Plant Hire Ltd rebranded to The NPH Group and this saw the beginning of a substantial revamping of the business with strong investment in its fleet and infrastructure.

Ashley concluded: “A lot has changed over the past three years, with new processes implemented and investment made in new equipment, which has strengthened the business and the service provided to our customers. With this in mind, it’s important that we work with suppliers that also innovate and are constantly looking at new ways we can better serve the needs of customers, and these are synergies that we share with Först.

“The manufacturer has recently invested in new petrol powered woodchippers that meet upcoming stringent engine emissions without compromising on performance and this could potentially be something we utilise moving forward to provide even more solutions to our customers.

“We are extremely happy with the relationship we have with Först and, most importantly, the quality of its machines. We’re looking forward to what the future holds as we continue to work closely with the manufacturer.”
